About
Robert S. Varnay, MA, LPC
I believe each person’s journey toward wellbeing is unique, with the greatest growth often coming after difficulties which are faced with courage and resolve. I invite clients to attend to their “problems with living” and enhance their strengths to flourish in daily life and move toward greater self-efficacy. I aspire to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere where clients can safely share about themselves.
My person-centered integrative counseling approach incorporates various systems of therapy depending on suitability, and a holistic perspective is mindful of one's soul, spirit, and body. Commonly used therapeutic approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. Together, we explore current circumstances, personality characteristics, and how past experiences may be influencing emotional health, relationships, and life plans. Clients can proceed at their own pace, with balance given to exploration of issues, insight, action, and evaluation of progress.
I have over 10 years’ experience as a counselor in North America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. My master’s degree is in Mental Health Counseling from Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in New York City, and I am licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My professional affiliation is with the Christian Association for Psychological Studies.
My practice is geared to serving the local and international community of both English and Hungarian speakers. In this global and interconnected world, I provide counseling and coaching to children and teens, adults, couples, and families living personally and professionally at the nexus of varied countries, cultures, languages, and time zones.

General Conditions
Rates & Payment
Flourish Nexus is a private-practice and payment is generally due at the time of service unless prior arrangements are made. Please contact me about my current rates. Payment can be made via bank transfer prior to each session.
Cancellations
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give notice 24-hours in advance. Without such notice, a partial appointment fee will be charged.
Insurance Reimbursement
Services are private-pay so they are generally not covered by the national health insurance. However, some international health insurance plans may reimburse counseling services. In such cases, I would be glad to provide the necessary paperwork.
Online Video Counseling
At the scheduled time of your appointment simply "enter the waiting room" using the link provided and be connected via a secure HIPPA compliant web-based video platform which is used for privacy protection. (Please use either Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari).
Collaborative Approach
In cases that require a multidisciplinary approach, I may recommend a referral to other healthcare professionals in your vicinity, such as doctors and/or allied health providers.
Emergencies
Flourish Nexus does not offer crisis counseling or emergency services. If you feel you are in crisis, call your doctor or emergency services in your country of residence, or visit the nearest hospital. If you are in the USA, dial 911, and in Europe, dial 112, which is the Europe-wide emergency number, and ask to be connected to an English-speaking operator.
